Top sights in Athens

Athens really does have it all. The culture, history, beauty and nightlife. There won't be a dull moment in this city, I'll tell you that. It's one of my absolute favourite cities to date, and here are some things to see and do with your time in Greece’s capital!

Acropolis

This is a must do when in Athens. I'm sure you've seen countless times in pictures, but it's even better in real life. Get yourself the audio guide - it will make a HUGE difference and will allow you to go at your own pace.

You'll have a blast listening to Greek mythology!

Also included is entry to Odeon Herodes Atticus, and of course you will get to see the money shot that is the Parthenon!

Monastiraki Square

This area is full of markets, shops and tavernas in the surrounding streets. There’s a lot going on around here and is definitely worth a visit.

Panathenaic Stadium

This beauty is the only stadium in the WORLD built completely out of Marble! Over 2,000 years old, it also hosted the very first modern Olympic Games! Go and take a look for yourself, it’s pretty unique.

Mount Lycabettus

Head up here via cable car and get one of the best views of #Athens!

Whilst you’re up there, go and have a sunset dinner at Orizontes Lycabettus. Bring some tinnies up with you and stay until the sun goes down and the city lights up, it won't disappoint. We could have stayed up here forever.

Syntagma Square

Another large square with more modern structures and buildings. It’s also where the Greek Parliament is located.

Philopappos Hill

This gives another spectacular view of Athens but particularly the Acropolis. It’s a more secluded view with less tourists, and is a relatively easy 20 min walk.

National Garden

This is a beautiful and tranquil garden in the city centre, and is a great place to have a picnic lunch and relax!
