Top sights in Venice

V Adventures

Venice is a delight. It's romantic, beautiful, creative, fun, and it's got heaps to see!

“To see what it would cost to do all of this during a trip to Venice, check out my post 'Your trip to Venice cost HOW much?!

1. Rialto Bridge

Despite having over 400 bridges in Venice, the Rialto Bridge is not only the oldest to cross the Grand Canal, but it’s probably the most famous one. During summer it is busy at all hours of the day and night, but you don’t have to get too close, you can admire from afar and it is still beautiful!

2. Piazza San Marco

Piazza San Marco is the main square in Venice, and it’s also home to St Mark's Square Basilica and Doge’s Palace. In the evening, the restaurants are booming and there will most likely be a musical performance taking place to enjoy.

3. Grand Canal

The best way to experience the grand canal is to get on a Gondola and sail on it! It’s such a unique experience and the canal is absolutely stunning. It does not feel real at all. Gondola rides have SUCH mixed reviews online, but we had a great experience with our pre-booked one. Here's the link in case you're interested.

4. Santa Maria della Salute

You will find this Basilica right opposite the train station in Venice, and where all of the water taxis depart from. Built in 1687, it still looks so grand and considering it’s free to enter, you should not be saying no to this.

  1. Terazza Aperol

OK, so this might not be a historical building or canal with a view, but it's a must visit when in Venice! Terazza Aperol is a fully branded Aperol bar with Spritz, Cicchetti and all round good vibes. Park up for an afternoon with a pack of cards, some cocktails and great food - it won't disappoint.
